Many people who attempt a home business have little or no experience running a business.  You can easily get caught up in the "employee mentality" of expecting monetary results and immediate gratification from the work that you do now.  This rarely happens as an employer. The employee mentality doesn’t like to take risks, it wants job security and is afraid of re-inventing the wheel.  The employee mentality is constantly seeking ways to benefit themselves because it is geared to the individual..

As a business owner, you will need to convert to a much different "employer mentality".  The employer mentality is always trying to figure out new ways to do things, it takes risks, prefers the thrill of the unknown and desires creating new concepts from scratch, even at the risk of re-inventing the wheel.  These individuals expect delayed gratification, and rightly so.  You should expect to do a lot of the work now, and get paid later for all of your efforts.  The employer mentality will be constantly trying to figure out new ways to provide more to other people (A "Pay It Forward" attitude), and that takes time.  Long term business relationships must be developed with this train of thought.

You should expect to invest at least some money into your business too, although some businesses may require more monetary investment than others.  With SFI ,however, you set the pace and you decide what to invest monetarily into your business. In addition, you will also need to invest your time (this is free), but you will need to manage this time well as any good business owner would.
